FRESH FROM THE BAKE SHOP

Its after 10.30 on the 31 August and I have just finished the table runner that was featured at the Moda Bake Shop last week. The featured tablerunner was made using Sweetwater fabric and they had a little comp for any one who made this table runner. Tonight was the deadline. So I came home form a family dinner out at my sister and got back to sewing. I had the base and the large flower sewn just had to do the centre and sew the flowers on. I used Woodland bloom fabric for my runner

I am extremely happy with it. Its bright and happy and perfect for my home.

Happy Birthday Tasha

Today is my nieces 11th birthday. We visited her yesterday to give her gift of this bag I made for her form a few strips of a Butterfly fling Jelly Roll. This block is an extra block in a quilt called Spiral Strips which I will be doing in the next few months. Tasha will use this bag to put her dance gear in when she goes to lessons.
Have a great birthday Tasha. We love you.

Friendship Swap

Look at this wonderful array of gorgeous things that the beautiful Ali sent me for the Friendship swap Sal was running on Scrap Of Faith
The little hold all was the first sewing item that Ali has done for years, its so beautifully done and will sit on my cutting desk to hold all those little items that I need to have close. It was full of buttons, lace and ribbon and also held a little book on funny scrapping stories and a block of Lindt choc.
Thanks Ali I love it all.

Hexagon Swap

I am really enjoying the Framed Hexagon swap Vicki is running on the craft forum
The butterfly is the one I made for Doris and the Friendship Angel is the one she made for me.
I am thinking now that I have made a few that I would really love to do some traditional hexagons, thinking of just doing a table runner to start with. I remember my Nana had a apron made from hexagons.

This week

Have finally recovered from the 21 celebrations which started Friday night, will put up some pics once we have uploaded them. Royce was very excited at how much thought went into all of his presents. His friends love his pressie from us - a Pool table.

I have been reading Peter Walsh's "It's all too much" a book on decluttering your house. Well I might say that we don't have a real clutter problem as some of his clients do - all flat spaces taken up by pieces of paper and junk - but we do have a few places in the house with TOO MUCH STUFF. So this week I have purged my wardrobe - given way 3 bags of clothes and about 6 bags. Have yet to do the shoes (that's going to hurt).

I have also culled big time in my sewing room. Have given over 20 magazine and crafts books to the op shop and downsized my button collection by a quarter, they now fit on one shelf, you can see each jar and they don't all try to jump off the shelf when you move one - I still have 9 jars and 4 other containers of buttons. Now b4 any of you get upset that I didn't offer them to you - I have to say that if they did not leave my house yesterday they would not have left - I know they would have ended up back in my collection - I didn't want that. Still have the fabric to go through but its all contained quite neatly so I am not really concerned about it.

I am hoping to get to the scrap room sometime this week. Speaking of scrapping we have Jess & Kristy coming over today to scrap with Haylee & I, so I should have a new recipe holder to show you soon.

Restoring our womanhood.

Over at Scrap of Faith we have started a restoring our Womanhood course. Each week Sal has been posting challenges to get our lives as Christian Women back on track, to focus on areas in our lives that we can improve.
Each week the challenges are posted in the forum or on our blog.
The first week our challenge was to create a journal to record our journey, this is mine.
we would love for you to join us in our quest to live the lives God would have us live as women.

As some of you may be aware I belong to the Express magazines craft forum. As a member of that forum I run the caring harts group that sends packs of hearts to our ladies who need a hug. it may be for a celebration or to encourage them in hard times. I have put out a call this week to the ladies as I was getting a little disheartened and my call was heard. Today one of the ladies sent me 2 sets of hearts and a little pressie just for me. Isn't this bag just the cutest. J told me next time I go out to pop my cup and a bikkie in this little bag. Thanks J your thoughtfulness and encouragement made my day.made my day.

Artist Trading Cards

I have made these ATC's for a swap (well four of them) on my craft forum and had so much fun making them. 8 of them - not including the very top left hand one was made in one batch I just change the top fabric an put large a pink flower at one end and ended up with very different cards. I will chose 4 of these and send off to NZ to then be mixed up and I will receive 4 different ones back.

With the left over I made the bottom right bookmark, I thought it looked great so I took it to work to show the girls & the boss - they all liked them so now I have made heaps more to put in the shop and hopefully sell. We are always looking for new & different bookmarks.
