May's UFO finish and first finish for June

Very late to post this ....... I have had the rows for this wall hanging since the end of 2006, it was a row X row round robin organised at the Craft Forum.  I wasn't sure how to fit the rows together so it sat for many years until a friend helped me decide what rows would work for the space I had, there are another 3 rows that would just have made this too large for a wall hanging.  I sewed it together in 2011 and then it sat until I found time to quilt, bind and finish it.  which as you can see I have now done. It hangs proudly in our bedroom.  One of the other rows is being made into a table runner the other two possibly cushions, haven't decided yet.

My first UFO finish for June is a Janelle Wind Frilly Dilly bag without the frills.  I love the shape of the bag but didn't want the frills so I decided to raw edge applique a flower on the front.  This has been waiting to be finished for over 2 years.  So pleased to have the Friday night sewing with friends group to encourage me to get some sewing done.

April's UFO finishes and a baby shower pressie

I managed to get two more UFO finishes done this April if i can keep going at two a month I will knock quite a big hole in my UFO list.  I started a weekly sewing group and this has helped me keep some time aside to get my UFO's done.

Firstly this table runner has been designed (by me) and waiting to be sewn together for a few years.  I used an Authentic by Sweetwater charm pack and have enough left to make a 2nd table runner.
These hand towels are the last of the pile I started on last year.  Two of these are heading off to Shirley as part of a swap, she made me some dish cloths and these hand towels are in return.

Went to a baby shower today for my nephew and his wife.  I decided to make them a Very hungry caterpillar kick rug to go with a few other VHC items.  It turns out she loves green and VHC was one of her favourite books.

UFO challenge list & the long awaited giveaway.

Last year I joined Sew Its Finished UFO challenge. I had a list of 19 projects I wanted to finish but am ashamed to say I didn't finish even ONE of them. So I decided to have another go this year and have found that I actually had 26 projects at least cut out waiting to be made/finished
. I also added 5 new projects and a few unfinished fundraiser items tot he list.

So here it is for all of blog land to see my UFO list:-

2 garden aprons – cut out

After compiling this list I knew i gad to come up with a plan to get at least a few projects made. So I started with the project with the least needing doing and that is the pictured Violetta table runner. All it needed was its binding sewn, I stayed up all night Monday 2nd January to finish it. AND to celebrate I have decided to make it a giveaway. Leave a comment on this post for a chance to win. Don't forget to leave me a way of contacting you. I will leave the giveaway open until Sunday 22 January.

Now back to my plan to wade through my UFO list. I have purchased 7 pretty boxes and have sorted all my projects out into categories ie table runner, bags etc ( my quilts have been living in a crate for the last few years and are still there in the linen press). My next plan it to take one item from each box that has the least work to do and start there. At the moment I have a fig & plum table runner in my work basket behind my night time chair, I am 1/4 way through the hand binding.

For the quilt tops I have a friend who has a long arm quilter machine that she allows you to go and quilt your own for $10 an hour so I am planning to book in every two months to get my quilting done, hopefully I can bind each quilt in the months between. The double bed quilt I want professionally done but seeing as my son has moved back into what was the spare room and that quilt was for that bed there is not so much of a hurry to have it done. When one of my kids plan to move out I might do it then.
